No. Recycle bin is enable by default since SME 6.5 witch comes with samba3.

You should be able to find a contrib for 6.01 that enables network recycle bin.

As far as i can remember this contribs creates recycle bin named '.recycle' whereas on 6.5 they are named 'Recycle bin'. Also, this contrib should have a clean up script included...
