New Client has been using SME for email server. Tech Guy #3 (as they call him) set up something on here for a email account that everyone can access. It is called 'adbuild'.
I cannot find a username for that account, nor can I see where it is stored, etc. I think it has something to do with IMAP storage, but have no understanding of that.
When I setup an IMAP email account, I can't see the 'adbuild' folder, and when I try and access it throught POP3 I have no idea what the password is for the account or where I can change it.
Any guidance toward where to start looking for this would be appreciated.

You could go to the user accounts and reset the password, but then you would have to change that imap password on each client machine that accesses the account.....Would be a major pain if you have alot of users.
-
Part of the problem... there is no user 'adbuild'
So... I can't change it... don't know how it's setup
-
Can you go to one of the client machines that has this IMAP account set up and see what the username is.....
The IMAP connection can be named anything.

Have you thought of asking "Tech Guy #3"?
Shared email accounts (in fact, any shared use of passwords) is a bad idea, IMO.
-
Is adbuild either a group or pseudonym.

Tech Guy #3 is MIA!

'adbuild' is a group! Have not figured out how to get to a groups settings or passwords or emails to look at...

Simply add or remove users from that group.

Groups don't have passwords. Groups are, well, groups - of users. Users have passwords.
Sounds like you should carefully read the Users Guide to get a good background.
Then if you still have problems, you should tell people here what your problem is. You haven't said what you're trying to do or what exactly you need help with.
There's some good advice about reporting problems here:

I understand that "groups" don't have passwords, and have looked at the manual. I do not understand how the IMAP issues work at all.
REAL PROBLEM:
adbuild 'group' needs to be accessed by multiple users.
I have looked at many of the user computers and they all seem to be set up differently. Some of them have an IMAP email setup and some use pop3. When I try to use the IMAP setup the adbuild does not show up for all the users in the group. So... I guess my question is really how does the IMAP work. I do not see any settings or controls in the management console.

REAL PROBLEM:

You don't access a "group". A group is, as I said, a group of users. Groups determine a list of users who can access certain i-bays, and a group of users to whom messages are distributed if mail is addressed to the group name. The mail messages go into the users' mail boxes.
When I try to use the IMAP setup the adbuild does not show up for all the users in the group.
I don't understand what you are trying to say there.
So... I guess my question is really how does the IMAP work.
IMAP is a protocol which users can use (set via their mail program) to access their inbox and mail folder collection.

Are you refering to the following scenario:
user1
user2
user3 ect
These are all members of a group called : adbuild
If you go into the groups ( under collaboration )is there a group called : adbuild
If so, you can modify which users are part of this group. So if you have loaded a new user : user4 you can then modify the group 'adbuild' so that user4 is now also part of this group.
an email then sent to adbuild@yourdomain.com is then fwd to all the users listed in this group ?
Clear as mud i hope :hammer:

BACK ON IT---
Adbuild account is sent to users..
But the IMAP folders seem to have disappeared. All mail shows up in the Default INBOX... not in the ADBUILD folder that is on their machine...
Says Adbuild Folder does not exist
