Title: Big Time Problem
Post by: Olsen on August 16, 2005, 06:23:07 PM
I am trying to troubleshoot a problem that is occurring on our server
SME 6.0.1
Everyday the time seems to lag, when I come into work the following day, it is off by 40 minutes or so.

I am trying to figure out if this is a SME issue....or a hardware(motherboard) issue.  Does SME get its time from the internal clock on the system board?

I have even changed to using a NTP server and it still does not fix the issue because the time still gets off before the sync.

Any suggestions, this is really becoming an issue when tracking emails and the times they were sent and receieved.

Thanks.

I had a similar problem a few years ago but not quite as extreme as yours.  My system would loose about 15 minutes a week.

It turned out to be the RTC on the motherboard.  Only thing I could do to fix it was replace the MB.  Got it RMA'd and the replacement worked fine.

Good luck,

Paul
