Title: backup and restore
Post by: harry on November 15, 2001, 03:16:59 PM
I installed 5.0 over my existing 4.1 e-smith. Made a beautiful backup. But after a clean 5.0 install the restore doesn't work. Anyone any idea?
I also installed 4.1 again and tried to restore an old backup file. With the same result. Did I make a backup for nothing?

Harry,

When you say you can't restore do you mean that you are getting browser timeouts before the restore completes. If this is the case then access the server-manager using http://localIP:980 instead of http://my-server/server-manager.
There is a bug in V5 HTTPD that is causing timeouts

From Mitel after submitting a bug report:

>Thanks for the report - it looks like the proxying between the main web
>server and the admin web server is timing out. We'll have a look for a
>future release.

Yes, the browsers stands still. But also in the previous version I had the same problem. I could only once restore an old backup.

JonB's suggestion above worked for me. I struggled with this for hours trying to restore after installing SME v5. I tried from a Mac, from WinNT, Netscape, IE, even from the server its self. Then this simple suggestion got it working! Thanks JonB!
