Title: Using smp kernel but only one processor being found
Post by: jarthurs on August 24, 2005, 09:36:45 PM
I've just setup SME 6.0.1 on a Proliant 3000 with dual PII 333MHz processors. Having selected the SMP option on boot /proc/stat reveals only CPU0 and no CPU1.

Both CPU's are registering fine in the BIOS, but I've tried both Knoppix and SME and cannot get either to recognise the second processor.

Regards,
Jason.
Title: Proliant SMP - a solution

Using the Compaq SmartStart CD I was originally advised to set the OS selection to 'Other' for installing Linux. However having gone back again and looked there is an option for Unix which has a sub-setting for Linux.

Set the OS to Linux and hey presto dual processors. I have a sneaking suspicion this is only supported on SmartStart 5.5 and later.
