Title: Driving me Bananas Promise controller
Post by: torrestech on August 25, 2005, 01:15:07 AM
I have been cursed with an ASUS server that only has a promise 20319 SATA controller. I am trying to install version 7 beta which installes wonderfully. Detects the controller and everyhting. But on the first boot it cannot find the OS. Same with Centos 4.1
I have turned off raid. I have even removed the second hard drive but still no go.
Can some one tell me if it is a case of (This driver dows not work) or something.
It will really tick me off if i have to buy another controller.
I cant take it any more!!!  :hammer: Am going crazy  :pint:

For the reference of other people out there with the same problem. I know tha there are a efw on the Centos forum. Here is the simple fix.
Manually create 2 stripe arrays. one for each disk. Than it all works. so we have a server with 2 sata hard disks. in the controller create 2 stripe raids, and version 7 now works perfectly with software raid mirror.
