Title: sk98lin & D915GRVLK Intel motherboard
Post by: bjoyce on September 05, 2005, 09:04:18 AM
Hi,
I am not able to use the onboard lan interface with this motherboard.
I have tried installing SME 7 beta 2 and it half detects it (Marvell 8050 something) but it wont enable it.
searched the forums and tried a suggested command
modprob sk98lin
which returned no information, errors or otherwise.

Where do I go from here?

Brad

lsmod - see if the driver is loaded
service network restart

check modprobe.conf to see if the correct alias is present.

Etc

Thanks for the reply.  I tried with no luck all you suggested with SME 7B2

I have gone back to SME 6.01 (with the SATA mod by ckearns) smeserver-6.01-01custom-sn.iso  because I have a SATA hard drive.  It installs fine but has identical errors to SME 72B when trying to load the onboard gigabit interface.

/var/log/messages says that the hardware can not be found.  sk98lin has failed to load

I have checked that the BIOS and the lan card is enabled and the network card works if I boot with windows XP

It seems that it is the wrong driver or the driver is not seeing the hardware at all.

Is there a way to set the I/O options with sk98lin?
Is there another driver I can use?
Do I buy another gigabit network card?

Thanks

Brad
