Title: SME Backup 12/24G TAPE
Post by: gtoseski on September 07, 2005, 01:24:01 AM

SME Server Backup working great, now my drive is about 19GB, my tape drive is a 12/24GB DAT, the backup is saying it is full, i am guessing it is not compressing the tape to read 24 GB but only 12 GB
how do i fix this?

Some files are very compressible, others aren't compressible at all. Your tape drive really only has a capacity of 12GB. If your data is 50% compressible, then you can put 24GB worth of files on the tape. If your data is less compressible than that (for instance, if a significant amount of it is already compressed, e.g. MPEG or MP3 files) then you will have less than 24GB worth of files.
