I would like to be able to control my SME to be able to switch it on at certain times and also switch it off. At the moment it is on 24/7 as it has been for the last few years but with energy costs rising and for the sake of the environment I have to be concerned about energy usage. I can set windows up using the power management features so that I can schedule a shutdown and switch off or a startup and am hoping that it would be possible to do the same with SME. I have looked and cannot find a contrib to do this.

Depending on your machine, you can set these looking at your BIOS.

Andy,
A mailserver that doesn't run 24/7 is (excuse me)
apaininthe* for everybody that it trying to reach you!!!
A website that run's "8-4" isn't worth the url - IMO .-)
If you just need a router - why not buy one .-)
iow buy a small box that's low power in the first place!
If you need a low power SME
... just build one with low power components
... like VIA EPIA Mainboards and 2.5" HD's and small PS asoasf you get the picture!!!
:pint: just my 2-euro-c :pint:

Reinhold
P.S.: OK "for the sake of the environment"
The "magic turn off" is built in, it's called cron / crontab
The command cron should run is "shutdown -h now".
...make sure you do not "annoy" anybody including yourself :-D
