Is SME ver.6.0.1 available in 'Downloads' page up to date? I mean, do I need update packages after installing it for the first time? If yes, then how can I do that in an easy way (I assume big number of packages need to be updated)?
TIA :-D

Yes, lots of updates:

So, this means the downloadable file on contribs.org is not up-to-date! I think it would be better to create an updated .iso file instead of wasting lots of time and bandwidth for all new installs.

I agree, care to help?
One goal of the maintenance team under consideration is to release a new ISO, but it takes time and the number of volunteers is small.

At the moment there is a large backlog of updated packages to push through the maintenance process.
The process is here: http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php/Maintenance%20Process
The tasks that are really needed now are looking at the Bug Tracker http://no.longer.valid/mantis/view_all_bug_page.php
For each Bug with Category=Updates and Status=Feedback test the package and add a Bug Note.
For the following Bugs try to find out which packages fix the bug as insufficient details are there.
