Hi all,
Is the source available for SME 6.0.1?? If so where can I download it??
I'm having problems with an on-board NIC and would lke to recompile the NIC module using the latest Linux driver for the card.
Thanks,
Rick

Does the source even exist?? Isn't the whole point of GPL to have freedom to modify the Kernel the way we want it??

I've just had another thought. SME 6.0.1 is based on Red Hat 7.3. Could I create the module for the NIC with Red Hat, export it as an RPM and then install the recompiled NIC module into SME?? Where do I find documetation to do this??

the source is of course available here:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/releases/6.0.1/os/SRPMS/
and other mirrors
there are some links to envirinment setup and rpm rolling from the development page
http://no.longer.valid/phpwiki/index.php?Development
The contrib or patch howto ought to help
also there's this:
http://mirror.contribs.org/smeserver/contribs/dmay/smeserver/5.x/howto/nic-drivers-howto.html
(for an old version of SME)

Thanks Ron,
I've been away for a while, and have just got back to work. I'm in the process of downloading the source now. I see how I go with getting creating the NIC module.
Thanks again,
Rick
