I'm using sme-cache-windows-1.0-4.

I have another question about windows update cache:

If I have a firewall (IPCOP last version) I'd like all traffic go thru IPCOP directly (no transparent proxy on SME server). So I turn off transparent proxy on SME.
But I still do like ALL windowsupdate traffic goes thru the SME to use this wonderful contrib sme-cache-windows-1.0-4... How that can be done?

I think a iptable rule must be done on IPCOP to transparently force use o SME as proxy when accessing windowsupdate site and his mirrors!

Anyone has a tip how to do this?

Thanks

Jáder

:hammer:  :hammer:  :hammer:

I also use sme-cache-windows-1.0-4.

I am not familiar with IPcop but here is a solution. Set the gateway ip of your machines to the ipcop, which forces all traffic to route through it, but set SME up as a proxy in your browser.

That should accomplish exactly what you need. It's my understand that for the windows cache contrib to work, your pc's have to go thru SME as a proxy.

Then, later, you could also get dansguardian going for content filtering  ;-)

was´n I´m looking for.

This way all my internet trafic will pass thru SME server. I wanna just windows update traffic go thru SME and all other go directly (no overload on my SME server).

And I´d like to add dansguardian on IPCOP and not on SME server. If I put DG on IPCOP and all traffic cames from SME server, it became useless!

I was just saying that, according to the windows update cache contrib, SME must be set as the proxy when you run windows udpates for it to work. It will be very tricky, if even possible, to force your ip's to run through sme as a proxy only when updating windows. If you accomplish this, let me know.
Title: maybe build a windows cache at IPCOP

So maybe the solution is to have similar contrib  installed on IPCOP.

Anyone wish to help port to or it´s already done?

Thanks

Jader,

You'll need to look at the support documention and/or forums for ipcop.
