Hi All,
I'm a not experienced SME user searching for help. I installed SME 6.0.1 and worked with it for a few months. Today I decided to install yum and tried to perform a general update. According to the number of updates this was really needed ...... However, after the update and post-update actions (done according to the documenatation on contribs) my box fails to boot. It just stops after showing the 2 characters LI on the screen. I hardly know anything about linux. What should I do to get it running again without loosing my original data and server setup? I'am afraid I'll need detailed help since I'm not very experienced with linux

I managed to reboot using a newly made my emergency disk. SME boots from this disk and works properly afterwards. However, the system is still not able reboot from harddisk.
I tried to write the lilo in the MBR by logging in as root and typing lilo
[root@sme-server root]# lilo
Warning: /dev/hde is not on the first disk
Added SMEServer-smp
Added SMEServer-up *
The result that I still cannot boot from harddisk. I need some help on this. My primary disk (with SME) is connected via a Promise ULTRA 66 controller...
