Post by: Marcus7601 on October 07, 2005, 08:55:06 AM
As a complete beginner i am trying to find a way to install extra software on my SME-Server. But i cant find apt-get or Yum anywhere.

Can someone please give me some pointers how to install apt-get? I am running v6.0

apt-get is mostly for Debian. There are reliability problems with the RedHat/Mandriva port. Don't go there.

Use yum instead (*). It's included in the 7.0beta base install. You'll also find HOWTOs here for installing yum on 6.0. Keep looking or asking.

(*) But be very careful. It's easy enough to break a 6.0 system by updating from the wrong repositories.

Ok i will try Yum instead.

Thanks a lot.

By the way, is there a better mirror for v7.0? The normal one is quite slow...
