Title: installing and using cups
Post by: demonx on October 07, 2005, 08:36:02 PM
Hi All, I've installed cups on an sme server 6.5 rc-1. Everything seemed to go well until I try and connect to it from a windows computer. There are no printers shown listed under that server. It lets me add the printer with the web interface and resync but nothing shows up. I'm wondering if maybe I installed the wrong version. Where can I find the correct files for my version of sme   server. I'm doing all this because i need to insert banner sheets with the users name between each print job. If I'm on the wrong track someone tell me that too. Thanks in advance. :-)

If SME Server 6.5rc1 uses samba3 configured without libcups support, it will be affected by a bug in Samba 3 that causes the behavior you describe. Please see the following post for a link to a build of e-smith-cups that contains a workaround for the bug. Be sure to expand the template for /etc/smb.conf and reload samba after upgrading the e-smith-cups package.
