My school runs a mix of Win2k and WinXP clients and for the most part students and teachers can log in at either with little trouble, except for the quick launch tool bar.
For some reason there seems to be a win2k quicklaunch and a winxp quicklaunch so that users who roam between different OS get both toolbars on their taskbar. They can turn them off, but when they log in again they're back.
Anyone have a fix for this annoying situation?

Check if using Group Policy Editor (gpedit.msc) will allow you to disable/control the alternate quick launch bar. I know it has quite a few other settings that allow compatibility between Win2K & XP profiles, just not sure about that one.

The Win2k gpedit doesn't say anything about quicklaunch. Are you refering to WINXP gpedit?

Yes, run gpedit.msc on the Win XP boxes
