Hi
My name is Davide
I’d like to ask you some information about the proper configuration of my sme server.
I found it very powerfull and stable, but I have a little problem about the configuration.
My network is so configured:
IP static for the SERVER and the PC and all the network resources
Pc have IP like 192.168,0,2 – 240 ( they are 30 pc )
SME Server have the 192.168.0.250
ROUTER for Internet 192,168,0,1 like default gateway .the also give the DNS Service
My ISP , give me an IP , dynamically, and I have an ADSL ….
Now the problem is ..
I’d like to use the Squid proxy server of your SME Distribution, but now I wont be able to surf the internet , I configured the browser with the correct info.
After a long time , the SQUID ( sme ) returns me .. unable to contact the url.
I tried to use the PPOE configuration or The STATIC IP. But I did not solved the problem.
( maybe this is due my incapacita’ )
I ‘d like to have some info to configure the server
Thankyou

Most likely - try setting it to the router (192.168.0.1) or even your ISP DNS server.

I'm having this problem as well. How do you change the DNS Server address. Currently sme is pointing to itself as the dns server, when it should be either pointing to an external DNS or at least the gateway/router. I used to have sme 5.x which ran fine, but I just upgraded to 6.0 and 6.5 and still get the same issue.
In 5.x, in the setup options there was a place to set the external DNS address, but not in the 6.x releases. I would have the sme box as the dns server, the router as the gateway and dhcp server. Whenever there is a webrequest internally, it would look to the sme server, which inturn gets the dns information from an external dns server.
