Title: webmail problems
Post by: gro on October 19, 2005, 09:55:40 AM
We don't use sme-server(6.0) as a mailserver, only as a dhcp,proxy,dns-server. We have an extern mailserver through webmail. Each time several users want to log on at the same time,we get errors from de webmailserver. I have already posted the errors to the webmailservermanager. He thinks that the errors we are receiving have something to do with our proxyserver because we are the only ones with this problem. He thinks that we have to disable the caching on our sme-server.

Gro,

If the webmail people are correct, then you should give it a try.  Unfortunately, in version 6.0.x there is now way to turn off the proxy server in the GUI.  You have to use the command line.  But it is easy:

/sbin/e-smith/db configuration setprop squid Transparent no
/sbin/e-smith/signal-event remoteaccess-update

I hope this helps.

Thanks Jay,

But..

Turning off the proxy server doesn't that mean we shut down our internetconnection over the network?
