I dont know why the pptp is not working,
...
And I don't know how many times you need to be told! *Any* problem with beta releases should be reported via the bug tracker at http://smeserver.sourceforge.net/.
"beta" is short for "beta test". The only reason a beta release is made is for you to test it and *report any bugs found*. It's great that you are testing it, but please, please, please report problems to the developers, and do it in the correct place.
-
And I don't know how many times you need to be told!
Please consider giving us a break! Many inexperienced users are curious enough to try out beta versions but are in total awe of the programmer's efforts and do just not consider ourselves competent or confident enough on the subject of SME to point out possible mistakes, shortcomings or oversights.
Please consider that maybe this type of bug report evolution in the forums might be useful as a filter between inexperienced users and the programmers.
(I would agree with your rebuke if it appeared in the "experienced users" forum.)
With respect for your best intentions,
Persisto.

No filter is needed. The developers are happy to have any bug report, and the sooner the better. No experience is necessary, just the ability to follow simple instructions and carefully report observations.
Any filtering is just a waste of time, and will increase the chance that a bug will go undiagnosed and uncorrected.

Yiibong,
PPTP on 7b5 works very well for me and even seems faster than 6.0.1. You may have a configuration problem with your server, client or firewall/router.
Here are the 4 most common causes for pptp to fail.
1-Have you set the user(s) in the server-manager to allow VPN access?
2-Have you set the "Number of pptp clients" to more than zero in the "remote access" panel?
3-On your windows client(s), have you set your connection to Negotiate multi-link connections?
4-Is your server behind another router or firewall? if it is, have you forwarded the appropriate port (1723) from the firewall/router to the server?
All of these mis-configurations have been discussed multiple times on these forums. This comes up over and over at least twice a month. Search is your friend. Make sure you have these settings right and if you still have problems, report a bug here https://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=96750&atid=615772

Please report this fact, plus all the facts about your problem, to the bug tracker, so that we can try to figure out why there was a problem in the first place. Please provide plenty of detail about what you did and what you saw.
