Either the remote site is not available, or your ISP is blocking port 25 outbound access. If it's the latter, then you'll need to relay your mail via your ISP's mail server. See the email panel in the server manager.

Hello Everyone,
Not sure if anyone is following up on this issue but I am having more or less the same issue. I said "more or less" because my newly setup SME 6.5 can send email, but only after reboot. All subsequent emails are just queued and not going anywhere until I reboot the SME box, then the queued emails will be delivered in a batch and then all subsequent mails are sitting duck again until the next reboot.
Anyone experienced the same issue?
By the way I configured ISP Relay via Server Manager because our ISP blocks direct SMTP outbound. As I said SME *can* deliver emails so I know the ISP Relay works, but it works once and only once immediately after a reboot ... interesting indeed ...
Any help will be apprecaited. Thanks.

York

I had the same issue when I first started with my SME 6.5. I was using Qwest DSL and all of my outbound email was being blocked, like it was spam. Anyway, after a lot of research, I found a website that suggested changing your outbound mail port to another port (besides 25). I currently have mine set to send through port 587 and haven't had any problems sending or recieving email in 8 months or so. Hope this helps.

If that's the case, then there is likely a bug. Please use the Bug Tracker to provide a detailed bug report.

Hello zot717, I think my situation is a bit different. I can see the mails sitting there doing nothing, but no network activities RE delivering those mails. A quick "ps" shows qmail-remote is still there sitting around...

Hello Charlie, since I don't kow SME enough so initially I don't want to jump right into the conclusion (i.e. this is a bug). Nonetheless the latest development on this matter shows indeed you are correct.
After playing around with 6.5 without going anywhere, I wasted 6.5 and put 6.01 on the box, installed the rollup contribs (the so-called 6.01 PLUS), and now I can send emails via the ISP Relay option. Sweet!!!!!
So the bottomline - a bug may be presented on 6.5 RE ISP Relay. I will place a visit to the Bug Tracker in a moment.
And I thank everyone for your kind assistance. Have a nice day.

York
