Title: SME on a diskonmodule?
Post by: kearnsy on October 26, 2005, 08:52:14 AM
Hi All,

Could SME 6 or 7 install on a disk with only 1GB?

From the looks of the Centos requirements I would need minimum of 256 for the swap and 512 for the base install. I am not sure about the added modules that SME adds but I recon it would be cutting it a little fine.

I was thinking of using a PQI diskonmodule to install onto.

Obviously even if I had some space left on the card after the install the space for user accounts, emails and websites would be limited or at worse none. Maybe a 2nd smaller diskonmodule could host all this.

I like the thought of no moving parts, but I guess it comes at a cost!

Any ideas or thoughts if this is possible would be appreciated.

Regards
Damien

7.0beta takes just under 1GByte, so a 2GByte module would be o.k, but you'll have to prune a lot out to have any usable space on a 1GByte module.
