Title: Ibay folder permissions
Post by: tariqf on November 08, 2005, 03:14:52 PM
Hi would like to alter permissions for various folders on my ibays according to groups I have created. The problem is nomatter who I log on as I get "permission denied" when I try to apply any permission changes to a folder. How do I set my user to have permission to do this? Obiously I need my user to be a member of domain admins but how can I do this? There is a domainadmins group and I am already a member.

Only user "root" can set folder permissions in the console, but the classic way to set ibay permissions is from the server-manager.  Only user "admin" has access to server-manager from a workstation browser. Both these users share the same root password you created during install.
HTH david.

ok so how do I set user/group permissions from the console for example on a folder within an ibay? I cannot do it through server manager becasue this does not give me control of security per folder within an ibay.

I would be very grateful for a simple example.

Is there no way of doing this from a workstation with root/admin privileges?

I don't think SME server supports the fine level of permissions control you are seeking.

I think you must construct additional i-bays and user groups.

Sorry, David.
