Title: SMTP problems - PLEASE HELP
Post by: brandonFS on November 18, 2005, 12:58:12 AM
I have an SME server 6.0.1. It pops email very well and the system is quick and dependable. But the SMTP from Outlook 2000 is very slow and the webmail is very slow. This is external and internal to my network. When the system was first set up it was just slow but it did send out emails. Now I get an error for every address but the local domain. The error reads: Rejected by server. 553 Sorry, that domain is not in my list of allowed rcpthosts. Please advise.

most likely, your being rejected because your isp blocks all smtp traffic, except through their servers. setup your server to go through theirs.

need more details to the specifics of your system as to why it's slow. Could be your server isn't powerful enough. you be you have outgoing authentication on when none is needed.

of course, you can always search first.
