Okay, I stuffed up something on my test box.
I installed a couple of RPMs and now am not allowed to access the server manager....not even the text based one from the admin page.
I installed the RPM for workgroup roaming profiles and all was fine then. I then installed a couple for MySQL admin. This may be what stuffed me.
Where is the list of acceptable IPs for server-manager acces kept? My guess is this file now does not have an entry for my network....or even for the local machine.

NB:
I don't even get the chance to log-in. I just get the:
HTTP Error 403 - Forbidden
error as soon as I try to load the server-manager.
-
More info:
Nothing that requires me to log-in gives me the log-in screen. It seems like I just get denied without the benefit of providing a username/password.

Just was reading about this today. The acceptible list on IP is in
"[root@server /root]# /sbin/e-smith/db configuration show httpd-admin"
found thsi info at
"http://www.e-smith.org/docs/howto/remote-mgr-access-howto.html"

Nope, didn't work.
:}
Think I really pissed off my system.
Thanks for the info, though.

I'd guess that your mysql database has been mucked up. Possibly (probably?) the password has been changed. My knowledge of this is very limited. The MySQLadmin package probably did something to your databases which are needed by the server-manager.
Which exact package did you install and have you read the documentation that came with the package.
Good luck.

I don't know what the problem _is_, but I'm positive it has nothing to do with MySQL--there isn't any connection at all between MySQL and the server manager page. The only thing MySQL is used for in a stock installation is the webmail prefs and address book.

I have seen this problem after installing a couple of the contrib modules. The permissions on the directories for the manager get changed. Check out this link, it worked in my case.

Thanks, but unfortunately it didn't work in my case.
Did the chmod thing, but do luck. The server does not even ask me to log-in, I just get routinely told that I am not allowed.

This did fix my problem!!
On my E-Smith 4.1.2, after installing trustiesaccount.rpm it was broken.

It worked for me after I installed a contrib RPM (phew)
