I know the risk involved using beta version as production server but all new branded entry level server hardware are using SATA and I need to implement one new server very soon.
Can't seems to find a tower server using IDE from IBM or Dell.
Anyone out there using SME 7 Beta 6 for production use? Just want to have a feel.

Sort of....
I have one server that manages email and files internally. But we back all of this data up everynight to a second server.
A problem would be very easy for me to fix.

me uses 7b5. No real problems, but some things I do not need do not work.

If they are not already in the bug tracker, please log them.
7 Beta is very stable and the more people willing to give it a go, the more likely we are to find serious issues before it's too late. Beta8 is the latest.

7.0b8 working fine here as email preprocessor shielding Exchange server from the big bad Internet. Also have another working as server/gateway for a small office, no problems at all.
An upgrade from 6.01 failed, but since it was not a bone-stock 6.01 (SSMTP & CUPS installed) and the 6.01 hard drive had crashed horribly I didn't figure it was worth a bugtracker entry. Another install failed with a kernel panic but that turned out to be a dud CD drive.
I've not tried to run 7.0 on anything less than a PIII/600 with 192 megs RAM but it runs great on that.
7.0b8 looks very very strong! Major props to the dev team for what looks to be the best SME ever.

I like the idea of using it on a (small) production box and I am willing to take the risk but I understand there is no upgrade path from betas to a final SME7?
