I am trying to use a SME 7 server as a Primary (and only) domain controller.
Whenever I try to join a (windows 2000) workstation to the domain I get an error message stating that "The specified domain either does not exist or could not be contacted."
I get this message before I am even asked for a username and a password that is allowed to add computers to the domain.
At first I thought it had something to do with name resolution but the fact that the domain is visible from the client that I am trying to add makes me suspect that that is not the problem.
C:\>net view /DOMAIN:histos
Server Name Remark
------------------------------------
\\HISTOSSERVERTEST
The command completed successfully.
Does anyone have a clue what could be the problem?

As stated here many times, please report anything which doesn't appear to work correctly in the bug tracker at http://smeserver.sourceforge.net/. SME 7 is only in beta release, which means it's only out there for people to test and report problems.

should'nt I first find out if it is a bug first and if so post it to the bugtracker?

No, that's what happens in the bugtracker.
