Hi, at
http://www.vmware.com/download/player/
everyone can download a player to use vmware virtual machines.

This means I can make a vmware smer7 system. You can download it and use it and I think also adjust it.

Why don't we distribute on the mirrors also a vmware sme7 for people to play with? I have vmware so I can make a vmware system we can distribute.

I am not sure but I think people can use such a player to roll rpm's and so on. We could distribute a developer vmware-host with all developer-tools installed for instance.

For those that want to test I have made an 380MB sme7beta8 showcase. Let me know.

Please let me know where i can get this. I would love to give it a spin as i have currently no extra server and i am too cheap to pay for VMWare

I cannot do this at my own adsl line as the line is already saturated.

I have Installed sme7 on a winxp using VMware player.
I'm using it in server only mode.
I created a VMX file using VMX wizard from http://rhysgoodwin.orcon.net.nz/vmxwizard/ & Installed the sme7b8. I dont think we would need a image created from VMware Workstation. I believe we can also install it in gateway & Server mode by just specifying 2 ethernet adapters in the vmxwizard.

i used your image from vmware everything fine
on win 2003 server and
I just followed your explanation about rrdtools on your site
and everything went fine you can se the result here

just wait 5 sec then you will get directed :-)
i am not a programmar so i tog a while to make it work
but in the end it is woorking wery good job you made
had a little prob with the fake domain but seem it work the other way around

Hi,

I just found a way to make your own empty virtual machines for free which will work with the free VM Player. You just install your OS of choice (SME of course!  ;-) )

I have 2 Ubuntu installations working this way.

Anyone notice that VMWare is giving away GSX Server free now?  Sounds pretty good to me.

A vmware clientmachine of sme7.0pre3 is being uploaded as we speak.
You can use this vmware host for development or testing for instance
