Title: Intel SRCS16 raid controller
Post by: Alex Schaft on November 30, 2005, 01:45:53 PM
Hi,

We're looking at a new server, which would have the Inten SRCS16 Raid 5 controller, with SATA drives. Would I need additional modules for SME, or would this run out of the "box"?

Elax,

On SME 6.x you will need to find a driver that works with RH 7.3  (RedHat Linux Version 7.3), the base of that version...
At the INTEL product site
 (http://www.intel.com/design/servers/raid/srcs16/) it says:
Quote
Operating System Support     Microsoft* Windows Server* 2003, Microsoft* Windows 2000 Advanced Server, Microsoft* Windows XP, Red Hat* Linux 9.0, SuSE* Linux 9.0, Red Hat* Advanced Server 3.0, Novell* NetWare* 6.5

No dice for SME 6.x
BUT you might (should?!) be happy with SME 7.x (RHE/CENTOS)as you can see there...
I'd say you make sure around RH Enterprise, on the CENTOS mailing list or in the (fantastic) Centos IRC channel. See http://www.centos.org/
