Hi all,
I have a new laptop that's supposed to be used away from the office. I can login to the server's vpn service (pptpd) no problem. For some reason the user does not run the netlogon script to establish the home drive.
I've edited the registry key for sign or seal and still nothing.
Any hints why this isn't working? Where do I look for logging of such things?

Does the PPTP login include the domain name? Has the laptop been joined to the domain?

I've included the domain with the pptp login. I did not join the laptop to the domain. I'm assuming that the user of this laptop will only need the VPN for specific things like work files.
I tried logging on from home with the same results. It used to be that I would log on from my XP box at home and get my home drive as well as another mapped drive created by netlogon.bat.
I will attempt to join the domain after I've created the VPN connection but I didn't think that was necessary. Unfortunately the subject of PPTP connections against the Samba server does not appear to be well documented.

Update on trying to join the domain. I pptp'ed into the network at the office but I couldn't find the domain server when I tried to join the domain.
I'm wondering if it's a corrupt setting with the pptpd templates/scripts that get run when someone pptp's into the network.
