HI,
I am a nwbie to SME. I have just loaded server 6.0.1 connected to two Windows machines running Windows 2000 Professional and am having two separate issues.
1). I would like the SME server to act as Windows domain server. At the moment I have set up a workgroup which SME recognises. However i can't get Windows client to be able to log into domain. When I attempt to login, Windows asks for username and password, and then says computer name is not recognised in domain, and exits. I have not trouble accessing server-manager, website, file share etc.
2). How do I get SME server to dial out? I've logged in as root and used minicom to dial ISP so I know this part of setup is okay. On clients I have set gateway to SMe server, but it won;t dial automatically when I go into website using Internet Explorer.
Thanks for you assistance,
Jumpjam

Hi, Jumpjam
I may have an answer to (1) based on a rapidly fading Windows knowledge.
When dealing with MS Domains, you need to get you Windows PC to 'join' the domain. I can desribe that for WinXP...perhaps it willb e the same.
Right-click on My Computer, select Properties from the menu. A dialogue box will open, with vaious Tabs. Click on Computer Name....you will now have an option to join a domain. Click on Change. Now click on 'Domain'. You will be asked the Domain Administrator's username and password. Give them, press <Enter> and wait a few moments(....depends on your hardware on the PC and the Domain Controller).
Eventually, you should get a message that your PC has joined the domain.....or a rejection message. (If rejected, check the spelling of domain name, admin username and password).
Hopefully, this will get your PCs and the PDC talking to each other.
Cheers

Jumpjam,
for the modem control you need dialmon. there are two parts to it, One that resides on the server, and a control program that you load on the windoze box. Try a search for it. I beleive that it may have been from dongog. If you can not find it, let me know. I think I may have a copy of it
