Title: Newbie Question, Please Help!
Post by: rsmachine on December 07, 2005, 09:36:01 PM
I am setting up a home server and decided to give SME a try since I can't afford Microsoft Server products. This is fine with me because I think Microsoft licensing sucks anyway. I have teenagers and would like to be able to keep track of the websites they visit and when. Is this possible? If so, what software do I need? I am brand new to linux, but am definitely willing to learn.

Thanks for any help you all can give me.

Sean

Tip: Include your subject on subject line.
Most of people do not like to answer (even read) message  with subjects like this.

YES you can track whatever has been accessed IF you server is in Server-gateway mode.
This is done by SARG (Squid Analyse Report Generator).
I think it´s included... if isn´t should be simple to install.

Good luck... SME rocks!

...and even better you can control what sites they access, and block access to them, using Dansguardian.
