Hi everyone,
I am not very knowlegeble in programming or linux. However, i wanted to install the SME SERVER because it had all of the function I was looking for.
I have a problem, I have installed SME SERVER 6.01 on the box. I have also gone through the configuration and everything is okay however, I cannot access the server manager from the internet.
I have a netopia 3347wvm router (with dchp turned on) with 5 ip address. My ip addresses are 72.149.70.122 -126.
During configuration I did leave the majoriy of the default settings because no computers are networked with the server as yet but i did put in the ip addresses my isp gave me.
when I try to access my server via ip address, I don't get anything. It's a blank screen.
Please tell me what I am doing wrong.
Also, The server is setup in server gateway mode with dchp turned off because I was going to have the router do that.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Amy

That's what you should expect. By default the server manager is only accessible via the local network.

Thanks for your reply,
Is there any way i can set the server up to be accessed directly from the internet without being on the network?
Thanks

You can either VPN to the server, and that would mean your on the local network, or you could go to”remote access” and add a new remote management network (which would be the IP address your going to use to access server-manager from, and use a mask of 255.255.255.255 that way it would only accept access from your ip address.
Hope that helps :-)
cheers

You should read the manual.
If you had already read it, then you would not have needed to ask this question.
