Title: DHCP static leases
Post by: darylp on December 17, 2005, 07:54:09 AM
I am running SME 7.0 alpha 26 & am having a DHCP static lease problem.

A new host's MAC address has been configured.
(Its a Canon ir2570 multifunction device).

I found simply rebooting the host didn't pickup the new IP address. Shutting down  the host & rebooting the server & then bringing up the host did however.

So, step 1, I've got the thing to have the IP address I want.

Now, I've reprogrammed the ir2570 with the hostname I want.

The ir2570 webadmin page shows me its got the hostname I want.

But the SME server steadfastly refuses to update the hostname.

Is this a known bug?
Is there a work-around, deleting its entry from a hosts file or the like?

What do I have to do to delete the entry?
I'm hoping once deleted, it will re-read the hostname from the machine, which will update the hostname to what I want in the SME Server.

You won't get any help while you are still running  sme 7alpha26.

I suggest you upgrade to sme 7beta8 and see if the problem still exists, if so report it as a bug on the new Bugzilla bug tracker.
