I am new to SME as well as having a server. Does SME act as a Domain Name Server? When you add virtual domains and specify global visibility does this publish the domain to the internet? I have a virtual domain (katsgems) that is set to global but when I assigned the ip of my machine (66.76.59.40) to the domain where it is registered it served up the primary domain loaded on my server rather than the virtual one. I then changed the registration to point to 66.76.59.40/katsgems it serves up the virtual site. Can anyone enlighten me on how this should be working/what I should be doing? Also can I use this server to perform email functions for multiple websites without it becoming a nightmare? Thanks

I am using my server to host about 15 virtual domains, and it works great.
If you have a virtual domain set up, register the virtual domain with a registrar, and point the name to your IP. SME will resolve it.
If you do not have the domain set up yet.
Under domains in server manager, just create xxx.com, and point it to the appriate ibay. It is really that easy.
Email is not too difficult. There are two methods to create an email alais for a virtualdomain. Look for the how to by Ray Mitchel, or buy the one from Dungog, which gives you a server manager pannel.

No.

Only if you have purchased the ServiceLink product from a Mitel Networks reseller.

I'm new to using Virtual Domains.
I've got my server running my primary domain now using SME7b8 (I know it's only beta, but hey it's a private server so I'll take the risks) :)
Now if I add a new virtual domain does this mean that my user ABCD which I've created for domain1.xxx also exists in domain2.xxx? and is this then 1 mailbox or are these 2 seperate mailboxes?

Yes.

1 mailbox - INBOX for user ABCD.
