You might also like to check a jumper setting on your disk drive. Some (most??) drives have a setting to allow the drive to be recognised as only having <32Mb, so they can be used with older bios systems.
By the jumper settings, I mean the jumpers where you set it to be Master, Slave, Cable Select etc. On my 80Gb drive, the last pair of jumpers is to limit the drive to <32Gb. Where do you find that out? Look at the label on the drive: it should tell you what the jumper setting options are.
