Title: SME 6.5 Secure SMTP Authentication unable to find update?
Post by: netdesignns on January 16, 2006, 02:52:34 AM
From the link http://www.pagefault.org/howto/securemail.shtml the only Secure Mail Update is for SME 6.0 which works perfectly!

Am unable to find an update for SME 6.5 for Secure Mail

Any attempt to install the SME 6 version on the SME 6.5 server results in a pile of file conficts and the install fails as one would expect.

The latest updates using YUM are installed on the SME 6.5 server.

AFIAK there are no updates for secure mail on 6.5.  Secure mail is built into 6.5 under the e-mail settings.

Have been through all the email control panels and the only option is for authentication using SMTP or SSMTP.

SME Version 6 has the options for Secure Email Settings and SMTP over SSL. The options are SMTP over SSL Port 465, POP over SSL Port 995 and IMAP over SSL Port 993 server access which are all preferred especially for remote logons.

So unless I am looking under the wrong rock there do not appear to be any RPMs for SME 6.5 for Secure Email over SSL and I am now wondering if this feature has been left out of the future SME 7 as well?

In 6.5 you have server-manager/email.  In that panel you have:
Public POP3 server access - your choices via the down arrow are: disabled, allow both pop3 and pop3s, allow pop3s (only), same for imap, and the same for smtp authentication.  Is that not what you are looking for?  Their the same, just worded and placed differently on the panel for 6.5 since it's now built in and not an add-on
