Hi folks,
I'm looking for advice. Any notes on your experiences welcome!
Next week, I'll be migrating a network of about 90 users currently running on a Debian box to a beefy new server running SME 7pre1. Sometime after that, I intend to rework the current server with SME and configure it as a BDC.
Does anyone have any suggestions for me as to how to migrate the Samba domain from the Debian box so as _not_ to have to visit each workstation to join a new domain and play 'profile games'? I have installed many SME Servers, but I always have just rejoined the new domain on each workstation...it would be a _lot_ of work with 90 workstations...days...
I have done some research on the web and I have found some info, which involves copying smb.conf, smbpasswd and *.tdb files from the old server to the new (SME) one. However, I'm afraid of stepping on the SME scripted configuration.
Again, any comments regarding migration to new server hardware or configuring a SME as a BDC would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
G
