Title: Path to shares? Path to maildirs?
Post by: NomadOfNorad on February 07, 2006, 12:43:50 AM
What is the internal path to the shared out folders on SME?  From outside (via Windoze Workgroups), I see:

\\Server\Primary
\\Server\Admin

What is the path I would type in from the shell (inside SME) that would take me to each of these folders?

Also, while I'm on the subject of paths:  What is the complete path to the maildirs?

If memory serves me,

Quote
\\Server\Primary

/home/e-smith/files/ibays/Primary

Quote
\\Server\Admin

/home/e-smith/files/users/Admin

MailDirs will be in the /home/e-smith/files/users/%user%/Maildir

Thank you.  I am poking around in the Maildirs now...  I see all the received messages in the Cur directory, but I can't find all the mails that belong to the Sent folder (as seen from inside Thunderbird).  Anyone know where those are stored?

Location of Sent folder messages is entirely up to the mail client - they are often local to the workstation. The Sent IMAP folder is .../Maildir/.Sent/

Why are you worried about such detail?

Hmmmm... well, I don't find a sent dir in [...]/{username}/Maildir though, that's what has me puzzled.  There's cur, new, and tmp directories, and there's a file named dovecot-uidlist as well, but there's no sent folder, and the other dirs are empty.  The only mails I find are in cur, and then only the ones that that mailbox has received.  I know there are sent messages, because I can see and read them when I connect to the IMAP server from outside...

Oh... hang on a minute.... [squints at monitor...] is that a dot (.) in front of that sent you printed there?  [tappy-tappy-tappy]  Ah!  There it is! .Sent

And it has its own cur, new and tmp dirs.

I wonder why they stuck that dot (.) on there?  Trying to hide the dir from clueless noobs like me?  :-D
