Title: Compex NIC RE100TX PCI
Post by: miki on December 26, 2001, 10:39:06 PM
Hi, need help installing SME 5.0
I have two RE100TX PCI cards, setup offers me Reltek RTL8139 driver, which is
not supported by my NIC. When purchuasing NIC i got also the Linux driver
RE100TX.c. I am unable to compile it and install it in SME server.
If you might have any suggestions which would help me PLS.

Hi Milos,

I use RE100TX cards in a number of Linux amchines (including SME 5) and they work just fine with the Realtek (RTL8139) driver. That's the actual chip on the card.

I'm using ADSL connection with PPPoe, during startup PPPoe service is OK (but it takes about 3 minutes to proceed), also ATALK (presumably for LAN) has the same sindrome, but internet test is reporting no link, also on LAN can not ping.
Can you pls advice your step by step instalation of SME 5.0 with 2 x RE100Tx PCI NIC.

As i have new linux driver for my NIC can you tell me how to compile it and install it within SME 5.

Thanks for your extensive help.

Miki,

Since you are using 2 identical NICs in the server, are you absoutely certain you did not reverse the cables (internal and external interfaces) ? Try swapping the cables around and try again (or you could run through the SME configuration again and swap them around that way too, but swapping cables is simpler unless your server is inaccessible).

Have tried swaping the cables and also inside instalation system swap.
It does not work. Had the same setup under win2000 server and NT4.0 server,
it worked so i'm 100% sure cards are OK. Now i'm using ADSL fm my second PC, so ADSL is also working.
Have also reinstalled the SME for several times and nothing ????

any more ideas ???, any at all would appreciate.

Thanks and wish you all a Happy New Year 2002.
