Title: Kernel panic while booting from CD
Post by: Pacjack on February 20, 2006, 07:46:04 PM
I'm trying to install SME Server 7.0pre3 on to an old computer (AOpen MX3S-T, Intel Celeron 850Mhz, 128mb sdram) using a CD-ROM burned from smeserver.iso.

While booting the following message appears:
Code: [Select]

...
md: .. autorun DONE.
RAMDISK: Compressed image found at block 0
crc error
VFS: Cannot open root device "<NULL>" or unknown-blovk(8,3)
Please append a correct "root=" boot option
Kernel panic - not syncing: VFS: unable to mount root fs on unknown-block(8,3)

What appears to be the problem? Anything i can do to work around this?

Swap out the CD rom, I've had that error before and a new player fixed it.

Is the downloaded ISO good ? Have you burned a new CD ? I have had similiar problems because of this.

Downloading the iso a third time and burn it again did the trick ;)
Thanks for the suggestions :) Running the installer now without any problems.
