I have setup an SME7 server as "server only" without a real domain name. I will not be using it for e-mail.
How do you get any server e-mail messages (like from the Cron Daemon) to be forwarded to another outside e-mail address.
I have changed "Forwarding address for administrative notices" to an outside email address, but the sever is still trying to send the email to root@domainname, then it sends a failure notice to MAILER-DAEMON@domainname, and that bounces to anonymous@domainame.domainname and then to postmaster@domainame.
I would appreciate your help.

Tony,
Does your ISP have an SMTP relay box that you can use? I'm not entirely sure what the problem is on your box, but you could try relaying to the ISP's SMTP box.
Put in the field "Address of Internet provider's mail server"
If you are still having a problem then it might be instructive to take a look at your qmail logs. Any sort of error messages you find will tell us volumes about the actual problem.

Tony, I found that renaming your domainname to something like domainname.lan or domainname.local stopped the "bounce bounced" messages. I also have an sme7 in server-only. As for the messages not forwarding check the qmail logs like jfarschman said. Does the provider require smtp authentication?
