Title: [RAID5 & SATA] SIL3112 Kernel support enabled?
Post by: paquerette on February 28, 2006, 12:25:46 PM
Hi,

I'm currently using a gentoo with a RAID5 (4*250GB) on 2 SATA PCI controller card (2 ports)

I had to compile the kernel with some option so that the SATA card is supported (and some option passed to GRUB).

How can I use my RAID 5 on the SME Server?
Should I re-compile the Kernel or is this card supported by default?
Is the SIL3114 supported too? (4 SATA Port on the card)

Thanks for help,
Paquerette.

SiI 3114 is supported, but you may want to check the RedHat bugzilla if you have problems with hardware.  SME7=RHEL4 in terms of hardware support.

Check the bug tracker for Raid 5 - I believe there are some workaround steps you have to do to make sure grub is installed on all drives.
