Just a dumb question now that I have our new server up and running and working great.
"When I boot the server it comes up with what looks like 2 chooses
"SME Server UP" which seems to be the default and the seems to be one below that one called "SME Server SMP" what is that one for, what the difference?........
-
UP is for single CPU systems
SMP is multi-processor CPU systems

You mean if the Server has a single CPU use "UP" if the Server has a dual processors then use "SMP".
-
Yes
The server will default to single CPU so unless you have multiple CPUs you don't need to change anything

SMP will also work on a single CPU system, but it won't use its SMP capability, and it will be a tiny bit less efficient.
[A little searching could have found these answers, I'm sure.]
