Title: PPTP VPN and Mac OSX
Post by: tog on March 08, 2006, 05:17:03 PM
I am having trouble getting an OSX pptp client on the SME vpn.  I have connected from several WinXP machines with no problems.

On the Mac, I have selected 128-bit encryption.  The support docs for the Mac pptp client say that ms-chap v2 and 128 bit enc is supported.

Are you using the OSX build in VPN (PPTP) connection possibilities ?!
I've just tried to VPN to my local SME7pre4 server and had no problems.

jester.

Yes I am using the built-in from "Internet Connect" in the Applications folder.

It connects, but dies while negotiating.

Oh.  I wasn't sure if it was a bug in SME or a Mac thing.

I am not using 7 pre4.  I am using 7 pre3.  can I just download the ISO for pre4 and install on top?  Maybe I should start there.

Tog, just use the 'Software installer' in the server-manager to update to SME7pre4 no need to download an .iso

jester.
Title: Wireless?

Are you trying to connect through your wireless Airport basestation? If it is an original (Silver) then it won't work. It doesn't properely support VPN.

It was indeed through wireless.  And it is working now for that user's osx through the airport.

But now I have one osx user connecting and one osx user that can't.  I am going to troubleshoot the second one's isp and other potential issues.  We're going to make sure that the the second one's winXP box can connect from that location to try and rule out the location/ISP as the issue.
