Title: multiple public ip address
Post by: dennyhalim on March 14, 2006, 10:53:56 AM
how can i setup smeserver to have multiple public ip address?

then, set each public ip for different purpose?
for example, first ip used for internet sharing, second ip for mail server, third for web server, etc...
(but still in one same sme server)

especially for mail server, i need to give it separate ip
because from time to time my mail server
get dns blacklisted for spreading virus.
even after antivirus/antispam enabled.

so, (i think,) with separated ip, when client's pc spreads virus, my mail server wont get blacklisted.

i can even block smtp port for first ip so that no client (virus) can send any email

The first step would need to be to have your ISP allocation multiple IP addresses to you, which is likely to be difficult and/or expensive.

A much simpler solution to that problem is for you to relay via your ISP's SMTP server. You configure that via the server manager.
