I was informed today that the SME mail is not not RFC compliant. Can this be confirmed or is a setting i don't have correct.
Your mail server does not support empty return paths
it returns
Thu 2006-03-09 03:20:26: <-- 550 Not supporting null originator (DSN)
This is not RFC compliant and bad.

Which version of SME7 are you using?
Do you have any additional contribs installed which could be effecting how mail is treated?
Is your mail going straight to its destination or is your mail delivered via your ISPs mail server.
Are you seeing this error reported back from many receiving servers?
Sorry for the questions but maybe these will give some clues as to why you are getting mail bounced.

I'm using the current version SME Server 7.0pre4. I have no additional contribs installed and my mail is being delivered directly. I'm getting this error reported back from my backup MX who is getting my bounced email.

Please record this in the bug tracker - the developers need to know about this.

I had hoped this could be confirmed but I will report it anyway.

Thank you for reporting it in the bug tracker. As you will have seen, we believe the report is false, but we need some follow-up from you to confirm. Thanks.
Please report *all* issues to the bug tracker - the forums are not the place to confirm or deny bugs.

I see a number of messages about it this morning which I will follow up on. As far as being false I don't know all I know is what I was told.

To close off this thread: the server had the "dnsbl" plugin enabled, which is disabled by default and can only be enabled via poking the configuration database. The other mail server is in the 'rfc-ignorant' blacklist.
