Title: SMTP / POP / NNTP from clients
Post by: Tor on January 05, 2002, 07:16:56 PM
I use e-smith 4.1.2

From my w98se clients I can browse the Internet via squid port 3128, but I cannot use OE on the same clients to send/receive news and mailI (from other mail accounts than my e-smith default).

When I connect the client directly to my ISP via dialup modem, OE can send/receive anything flawlessly.  Its accounts are set up as 'Use any available ntwork'.

Why does not my NNTP / SMTP / POP3 traffic get throught the e-smith server/gateway when I am connected?  (HTTP works fine..)

Thanks ofr any hint to resolve this problem

hi,

can you browse the internet without the proxy settings? if not, set the default route in network properties of your win box to the internal ip of your e-smith server.
if this doesn´t work check if masquerading is enabled on the e-smith server.

greetings
judy

Put your server's dns ip in the tcp/ip settings of your win98 boxes
