Title: Ftp from mac os x
Post by: pressman on March 20, 2006, 06:37:02 AM
Newbie again,
I set up some FTP (ibays) for some of my customers (which all use Mac).  When I access these from my PC(using my clients login) I can add write and read files and everything happens as it should but when I login from a Mac I can only read not write.  All the settings in SME are the same so what am I doing wrong?

Hi Pressman,

As I uderstand it Apple has done this on purpose... http://community.livejournal.com/macosx/3266957.html.

I use CyberDuck a lot, works like a charm: http://cyberduck.ch/

regards,
jester.

I don't recommend using FTP, FTP sends passwords in a regular text file, big security risk. I would recommend using SFTP (Secure FTP). There are many Windows programs that support sftp, and for MAC, try this one http://rsug.itd.umich.edu/software/fugu/
