Title: No correct configuration for webserver use?
Post by: QuayUtewan on March 21, 2006, 05:47:57 AM
Hi... I'm using SME for webservers.  None of the available configurations seem to be applicable.  Trying to install 7.0 tonight and it won't let me select "server and gateway" because I only have one network adaptor (not running a gateway), and it warns me not to use server only because then it would be insecure??

I would think an appropriate configuration choice would be available for internet server use.  Or else how would I correctly configure the server?

There is no such mode at this stage as the code hasn't been developed for it.

The simplest workaround is to install a second Ethernet card and use servergateway mode with the internal interface disconnected.

Yes, it would be nice to have a "Public Server" mode, but nobody has yet provided the code changes or funded that development.
