I use powstatd to control my Tripplite UPS which uses a serial cable to signal SME to shutdown on my SME 6.0.1 server. Can I use powstatd on the new SME 7.0 RC1?
Thanks,
Thomas

The rpms appear to install without errors, but the location of the db's has changed from
/home/e-smith
to
/home/e-smith/db
The db config commands in the howto should put the powstatd entry into the correct location of the configuration database.
The rpm will not create a powstatd entry as it is looking for the old db location.
You will need to enter at least one powstatd config command manually as per the howto for your UPS, you could get those details from your sme6 install.
I have not tested it further than that so can't comment if it will work.
You could try it out fully and let us know.
You could also contact the contribs author, Charlie Brady, but my guess is he will say to use NUT which is part of the default install of sme7, it just needs to be enabled. Search these forums on nut for particulars.

I have just tested powstatd on sme7 with an APC UPS and it works OK ie shuts down & restarts as expected.
The custom template mod suggested in the howto also works OK.
Just make sure you manually enter the UPS config using the db config command as per howto.

Please use the search function in future, you probably would have found some references to this.
